Apply What You Learn

James 1:22 | Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

How do you know that you are growing as a believer? How do you know when you are leveling up? The answer is simple when you read the Word of God and actually apply what it says. Wisdom without application is just good information. When we receive a word from God, through His logos, written Word, or rhema, a spoken word specifically for us, we must be obedient to follow His instructions. 1 Samuel 1:22 says, "to obey is better than a sacrifice, and to pay attention is better than the fat of rams." So let's remember this the next time we receive a word from The Lord.

Journal Prompt: Some of us give ourselves credit for knowing what to do. But that's not good enough. We have to do what the word says. Ask yourself, are you a hearer or a doer of the Word? Know where you stand and commit to being a doer because Jesus tells us that a person who does the Word is like a house built on a stable foundation.
